Welcome to Shanghai Academy of Agricultural Sciences!

As a comprehensive agricultural research institution with a history of over 60 years, Shanghai Academy of Agricultural Sciences shoulders the historic responsibility of providing scientific and technological support for the development of agricultural and rural economy in Shanghai. Through the arduous efforts of several generations of agricultural researchers, we have established the strategy of "founding the academy on scientific research, invigorating it through development, strengthening it with talents, and running it with openness". We have also clarified our goals: building a new-type academy with the characteristics of urban agriculture, a regional urban agricultural research center, as well as base for urban agricultural scientific and technological innovation, base for the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, talent cultivation base, and an international exchange and cooperation base for agricultural science and technology. Moreover, we have forged the new-era agricultural research spirit of "Respecting agriculture and devoting to cultivation, being sincere and innovative".

Facing new situations and tasks, we are fully aware that opportunities and challenges coexist; standing at a new starting point, we deeply understand that we have a long way to go. However, we firmly believe that under the correct leadership of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee and the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government, and with the strong support of various municipal commissions, offices and bureaus, we will surely make new contributions to further advancing the core strategy of invigorating the city through science and education, achieving a leap and sustainable development in technological innovation capabilities.
