9月18至21日，第12届东亚及东南亚土壤学联合会会议（The 12th International Conference of East and Southeast Asia Federation of Soil Science Societies）在南京顺利召开。生态所周胜研究员和曹彦圣博士参加此会，曹彦圣博士在会议上做了题为“Optimizing rates of nitrogen application to sustain grain production in East China”的口头汇报。

包括国际土壤科学联合会（IUSS）主席、德国基尔大学Rainer Horn教授，IUSS前主席、韩国江原大学Jae Yang教授，联合国粮农组织亚太地区办公室（FAO-RAP）土地管理官员Yuji Niino博士，中国土壤学会荣誉理事长、中国科学院南京分院院长周健民研究员等，共有来自21个国家或地区的约300名代表参加了会议。本次会议的主题为“Rational Utilization of Soil Resources for Sustainable Development”。

大会开设了“亚洲土壤信息学（Asia Soil Informatics）”、“土壤生物地球化学界面（Soil biogeochemical interfaces）”、“土壤肥力与植物养分（Soil Fertility and Plant Nutrition）”和“土壤环境与粮食安全（Soil Environment and Food Security）”等主题。78位代表展示了自己的科研成果，期间还分9个主题展示了100篇墙报。
